25.02.2021, News :

Young people around the world are invited to express their vision of a gender-equal generation.

The global "Comic and Cartoon Competition: Generation Equality - Picture it!" was launched in the end of January by UN Women in partnership with the European Commission, Belgium, France, Mexico and Cartooning for Peace. The competition is an inspiring way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Young people aged 18-28 are invited to  participate in the campaign with their drawings. A jury of renowned artists and high-ranking representatives of the Generation Equality Campaign will select the best drawings. Submissions are open until March 14

The Generation Equality campaign marks the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking Beijing Platform for Action, which set out how to remove the systemic barriers that hold women back from equal participation in all areas of life. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action is a visionary agenda for the empowerment of women and girls, everywhere. To commemorate this anniversary, UN Women in cooperation with Mexico and France, has launched the campaign "Generation Equality (opens in a new window): Realizing women's rights for an equal future" and will be convening a global gathering for gender equality, the Generation Equality Forum. The Forum will kick off in Mexico City at the end of March 2021 and culminate in Paris in early June 2021. An exhibition of the cartoons of all finalists will take place during the Generation Equality Forum in Paris and the winners will get the chance to attend the virtual opening. The competition is an opportunity for young people to share their unique perspectives.

All further information about participation and further distribution of the call can be found here (opens in a new window).
